It was a very last minute wedding! Stepan and Liza hired me a week before their “much talked about in Russia” wedding celebration. Stepan is a son of one of my favorite directors and actors Nikita Mikhalkov and the great actress Anastasia Vertinskaya. Stepan also owns several high end restaurants that are an absolutely must visit when in Moscow. I ate at two and have to say the food was delicious and interior is very tastefully done. Liza is a very successful model, beautiful inside and out, and from the moment I first met her (at her birthday party two days before the wedding) I really liked her.

I want to thank Aga of Aga Images for second shooting. It was Aga’s first time in Russia and all she wanted to see was Lenin (Unfortunately Red Square was closed for the Moscow Day celebration). As for me, the last time I was in Russia was six years ago when I received “The Photographer of the Year” Award in Moscow. I have got to say, a lot changed since then for sure!

Live Sculptures! They were throwing flower petals at Liza and Stepan as they made their way to the reception site accompanied by the legendary gypsies.

Stepan’s sister Anna Mikhalkova and mom, Anastasia Vertinskaya.

Stepan’s brother, an actor Artem Mikhalkov smoking a flavored tobacco, very popular in Russia.

Liza and Stepan’s first dance was very well choreographed!!

There were a lot of celebrities ( mostly russians that I don’t know) but I recognized Patti Smith who shared a table with Aga and me.

The band Blast is blasting with an amazing light show projected on the Museum.

It took 5 men to carry the cake made in Stepan’s bakery Хлеб & Co

Sergey Mazaev of Moral Codex is my new favorite russian singer! Here is Stepan’s son admiring Mr. Mazaev’s singing.

On August 31st, 2008 I photographed the winners of my free wedding photography contest – Linda and Andy. You can read their story and about the contest here .

They got married at City Hall a few days before, and so we started the day taking some awesome photos in Long Island City at the Queens Waterfront. They were a great couple and it was a fun location! After the photo session we headed over to the Jade Asian Restaurant where we celebrated into the evening.

Coming soon…….

I will be away from September 2d and coming back on September 9th. I will be shooting a last minute fabulous wedding of a beautiful couple in Moscow, Russia. I am getting really excited! The last time I was in Moscow in 2002 when I went there to receive a “Photographer of the Year” Award. Aga of Aga Images is coming with me to help me out. Thank you Aga! I can’t tell you much yet ( you know how it is with celebrity weddings ) but I promise it is going to be a spectacular one! Stay tuned.
