It was a very last minute wedding! Stepan and Liza hired me a week before their “much talked about in Russia” wedding celebration. Stepan is a son of one of my favorite directors and actors Nikita Mikhalkov and the great actress Anastasia Vertinskaya. Stepan also owns several high end restaurants that are an absolutely must visit when in Moscow. I ate at two and have to say the food was delicious and interior is very tastefully done. Liza is a very successful model, beautiful inside and out, and from the moment I first met her (at her birthday party two days before the wedding) I really liked her.
I want to thank Aga of Aga Images for second shooting. It was Aga’s first time in Russia and all she wanted to see was Lenin :-) (Unfortunately Red Square was closed for the Moscow Day celebration). As for me, the last time I was in Russia was six years ago when I received “The Photographer of the Year” Award in Moscow. I have got to say, a lot changed since then for sure!

Live Sculptures! They were throwing flower petals at Liza and Stepan as they made their way to the reception site accompanied by the legendary gypsies.

Stepan’s brother, an actor Artem Mikhalkov smoking a flavored tobacco, very popular in Russia.
Liza and Stepan’s first dance was very well choreographed!!
There were a lot of celebrities ( mostly russians that I don’t know) but I recognized Patti Smith who shared a table with Aga and me.
The band Blast is blasting with an amazing light show projected on the Museum.
It took 5 men to carry the cake made in Stepan’s bakery Хлеб & Co
Sergey Mazaev of Moral Codex is my new favorite russian singer! Here is Stepan’s son admiring Mr. Mazaev’s singing.
